Common questions

How do I get HeyPlane on my Watch?

Install HeyPlane from the App Store on your iPhone. If it doesn’t appear on your Watch by itself, open the Watch app on your iPhone, find HeyPlane under Available Apps and tap Install. The HeyPlane iPhone app shows whether it’s on your Watch.

Why don’t I see any aircraft?

Check that HeyPlane may use your location (Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services on your Watch or iPhone) and that your Watch is online through your iPhone, Wi-Fi or cellular. Coverage also varies: aircraft positions come from a community network of receivers, and some areas have few of them.

Why is the plane I hear somewhere else on the map?

Sound travels slowly, so a plane is often already past the spot you hear it from. Positions can also be a few seconds old.

Why are the route, type or airline missing?

HeyPlane shows these only when it can match them reliably. Rather than guess, it leaves them out.

Why does an aircraft have no photo?

Photos come from Planespotters.net and exist only for aircraft that someone has photographed and shared there. Without a photo, the details work the same.

Can I use HeyPlane for flying or safety?

No. HeyPlane is for curiosity and fun. Its data can be late, incomplete or wrong. See the Terms of Use.

What happens to my location?

It’s used only to find aircraft near you and is never stored. The Privacy Policy explains the details.
